'Spiritual':

  • working party set up to spearhead work on Eco-congregation programme

  • Guest speaker addressed the subject "Christians and the environment" at a special lunch
  • Holiday club used Scripture Union's 'Waste Watchers' resource, with 100 children, and feedback to the church afterwards on what they could be doing
  • Link between God, environment and humankind made often in services, especially Harvest

  • energy use audited by environmental consultant, and annual carbon footprint calculated - used as a spur to reduce it
  • electricity supplier changed to one which invests in renewable schemes
  • double glazing fitted; insulation good
  • low energy lightbulbs used and sold to congregation
  • recycling: tetrapaks, aluminium, bottle tops
  • pressed local authority to provide green bin for church gardens
