Barking United Reformed Church, Essex

With a small congregation of 20 folk, Barking URC have undertaken these activities:

• set up a small group in the church to put things into practice
• regular prayers for creation in services
• special services to highlight the needs of specific parts of the wider community locally and globally
• improved access to the church
• water saving devices installed
• Fairtrade refreshments used
• collection of various items for recycling (stamps, cartridges, mobile phones, spectacles)
• paper reused
• article on eco-matters in church magazine
• encourage economy of water and energy, and use of recycling facilities through notices in building
• collections made for local and global charities
