Activities undertaken in different areas of church life:
'Spiritual':
- acorns distributed at Harvest Festival
- regular participation in Fairtrade Fortnight, Operation Christmas Child, One World WEek, Christian Aid Week, Environment Sunday
- Eco-challenge (with Bible readings and prayers for reflection)
Practical:
- Greener future books given to children
- money raised for projects abroad, and to help preserve rainforest areas
- Continue to use eco-friendly cleaning materials
- investigated green electricity
- working with Leicester Energy Agency on monitoring system
- investigated solar panels
- survey of congregation undertaken to assess impact of work in church
- visiting speaker on recycling
- many trees planted
- paper-free billing
Mission:
- many articles in national and local publications
- working with users of premises on recycling
- sharing with others about the work (eg local churches, local TV station)
- hosted visitor from Australia doing research on churches and environmental issues
- Fairtrade promoted in church and locally
- tree planting at the National Forest
